IGTAP Speedrun Basics: Categories, Times and Setup
IGTAP times every course and pays you for going faster. Here are the leaderboard categories, the level select unlock and how to start running.

Speedrunning IGTAP is not a side activity. The game times every course, pays you more when you go faster, and asks you to repeat short routes. The leaderboard scene grew out of that design rather than around it.
What the leaderboard looks like
The community board at speedrun.com tracks a few hundred runs from around a hundred players. It is small enough to be approachable and active enough to have real competition.
| Element | Options |
|---|---|
| Full game | Any% and Glitchless |
| Side selection | A-Side and B-Side |
| Individual levels | 15 levels timed separately |
| Recent full runs | Around 20 to 24 minutes for Any% |
The split between Any% and Glitchless matters more than usual here, because some movement techniques sit close to the line between tech and bug. The board has an open thread asking whether a wall jump performed just after sliding off a wall counts as a glitch.
Why the incremental layer helps runners
Most idle games are passive. IGTAP is not, because your best time is the multiplier behind your clone income.
That gives running a double payoff. A faster route improves your leaderboard position and raises the electricity your clones produce. Practising a course is never wasted time in this game; it is the upgrade.
The design also keeps runs short. Courses are brief, checkpoints are generous, and level select exists so you can practise one route without replaying the whole game.
How to unlock proper practice
- Finish the main story. You need the full movement set before routes make sense.
- Complete the B-sides. Finishing them unlocks level select, which the developer announced as the reward.
- Practise single courses first. Fifteen individual levels are tracked on the leaderboard, so a fast course is a legitimate result.
- Then run the full game. Any% rewards consistency across all courses, not one perfect level.
- Decide on glitches early. Pick Any% or Glitchless before you build muscle memory around a technique.
- Record every attempt. The board requires video evidence, and reviewing your own footage is the fastest way to find wasted movement.
What runners optimise
The obvious target is the omni-dash transition. It replaces your double jump with an all-direction dash partway through the run, so a full run has two different movement systems in it.
Beyond that, three things dominate route planning:
- Dash jumps. Press dash, then jump during the dash. Most shortcuts depend on it.
- Repeated courses for income. Your best times set the pace of the run’s economy, so a fast early course pays off for the whole attempt.
- VMAN routing. The late courses are run targets too, and one achievement only appears inside a VMAN speedrun.
How to submit a run
Open the game page on the leaderboard site, choose the category, and use the submit option. You will need a recording, and the current rules page covers timing and side selection.
Beginners should start with individual levels. A two-second course record is achievable within a session, and the board already lists times in the low seconds for some levels.
